Unit 3: Insights and the Current Behavioral Balance
Lesson 4: Identity as a pressure
Identity is one of the strongest pressures. It can be both a promoting and inhibiting pressure. Marketing invests a lot of money to make people identify with their product or service.
Why is identity so important?
Identity is a core part of how we think about ourselves and how we want others to perceive us. It’s that inner voice about who you are as a person. Our identity is a strong driver for the behaviors we do.
“I’m the kind of person who eats peanut M&Ms.”
Activity:
What are some of your identities?
When you think about how others see you and how you see yourself, are they different?
