Unit 2: Strategy and Writing Behavioral Statements

The first variable in a behavioral statement is target audience.

It is rare for a target audience to be everyone, most things we build are for a specific audience.

Target audience is in the user’s voice, because it should be a natural way that people self-identify.  If people have to think for more than a second or two about whether they do or don’t belong in the group, you need to revisit this definition.

If you find it difficult to think of your target audience, close your eyes and imagine someone using your product or service. Who are those early adopters, the people you most readily imagine doing the behavior?

Activity:

Think of a popular product or service. Who is its Target Audience?

How do you know?
